Scrapbook Circle: DT Choice

Happy Father's Day! Today, I'm sharing a page that I had up on the Scrapbook Circle Blog last Sunday.

Best Dad Evah
Along with June's Now or Never kit, I used a scrap piece of paper from the Dear Lizzy Happy Place 6x6 pad found in the Stay Cool embellishment Add-on from the April kit to help mat my photo.
That little addition of scrap paper really comes in handy for tucking in bits and pieces, and helping the photo pop out a little bit more from the background. That cluster of flowers is made from elements out of the Bella Blvd She Blooms paper pieces found in the main kit.
One of my favorite things to do is use different fonts for longer titles to add a little bit of interest. A little stitching and hand written journaling finish the look.

Scrapbook Circle: Tech Tip

Hi again! I was up on the Scrapbook Circle Blog on June 8th sharing a few tips on my layering process. I'm not very tech-y, or technique-y for that matter...but I do have a few tricks when it comes to putting my pages together.

Happy Sweet Nerd
I usually start by grabbing the products I know I want to use, and just move them around with my photo on whatever background I have chosen. When I am pleased with how it looks, I take a photo with my phone. Here is the phone pic that I took of today's layout before I stuck everything down:

I also make pencil marks to make sure I start in the right place, and don't run out of room at the top or bottom once I start putting things back together. Here, I marked where the white space was going to be...

The picture and pencil marks are guidelines for putting my page back together, and I can add more detail as I stick things down...like hidden journaling and stitching.

I might even change things around once it's coming together, and add a few more embellishments.
I have a hard time committing...I have never been a peel and stick kind of girl. So, these simple tips have really helped me to get creative with my layering....and remember how to put it back together!

Scrapbook Circle: DT Choice

Hello! Today I'm sharing a page made with the sketch for the National Scrapbooking Day challenge posted on the Scrapbook Circle FB page on May 6th.

I used May's Here & Now kit to get this look:

You Play
I love getting creative with ways to use 12x12 sketches for my preferred 8.5x11 pages. To make this sketch work, I used the top photo area for my title, and one of the bottom photo spaces for my journaling.

I still used a couple of acrylic words as embellishments for the allotted title spot. I added a little whit paint to the back of them so they would pop out a little more...but, not too much.

I will probably use the sketch a few more times, with a different number of photos. It is amazing how may looks you can get with just one sketch!

Scrapbook Circle: May Printables

Today I'm sharing another page that was up last month on the Scrapbook Circle blog featuring the May Printables.

Mr. & Mrs.

I had lots of fun layering the 3x4 cards with some of the Fancy Free Ephemera tags.
I used the 8 inch strips on the bottom, and used them to ground my title. Those Thickers are awesome, aren't they?
To use the May Printables along with your already amazing Here & Now kit, go HERE...and be sure to share it with us in our new FB community: Scrapbook Circle of Friends!

Scrapbook Circle: 1 Product, 2 Ways

Whew! I have to play a little catch-up! This layout was up over at the Scrapbook Circle blog last month featuring the Fancy Free Ephemera from Pink Paislee. This was definitely one of my favorite things from May's Here and Now kit.

B&K
I did a search on Pinterest for 'gallery walls', as this was the kind of look that I wanted for my page. I found a few walls that used an assortment of shapes that cascaded down the wall at an angle. I accented the angle by stitching patterned paper in the corners.
The majority of the details on this page are from the ephemera kit. But, what I also liked about a lot of the gallery walls that I saw...were monograms. So, I also used the Fancy Free Thickers along with an ampersand that also came from May's kit.
Be sure to head on over to the Scrapbook Circle Blog to see Jennifer McMurtrey's layout also featuring the Fancy Free Ephemera.
