Scrap Room Tour Blog Hop

Hello! I was tagged by my fellow Imaginisce design team member, Marcia Dehn-Nix to share my creative space and process.  I'm not gonna lie...I totally cheated, and used the photos from my scrap space tour that I shared with Bella Blvd last March :) But, I assure you...it looks pretty much the same, just a bit dustier!
So, after the tour...I will do a little Q&A, and then tag someone else to do the same.

My scrap space is actually an old computer cabinet that use to belong to my parents. They were looking to get rid of it...and I had the perfect purpose for  it ;)  This is what it looks like all closed up. It's a good thing I have a photo of it, so that I know what it looks like.....because I never close it up.

Ah, that's more like it...although, again....never this clean! It's always cluttered up with some project that I'm working on.

I try to be organized, but with limited space it is difficult. Those black baskets from left to right/top to bottom hold: Adhesives, ribbon/fibers, misc. small embellishments, punches, more punches, and that last one holds things like bottled inks, paints and glitter. The big bottom section holds all of my wooden stamp sets.

That top shelf is actually a pull out tray for a keyboard, but I used it for my paper trimmers. Those big black baskets hold: ink pads, misc chipboard and flowers/bigger embellishments, embossing folders and dies, and the last one holds misc. large tools, like a Crop-a-dile, stamp scrubber, paint tray, etc.

On the top shelf: a basket of stamps that need to be cleaned, recent photos that I've had printed, and embroidery floss containers that hold buttons, brads, and ribbon remnants sorted by color.
2nd shelf: a border punch system, and a box of baker's twine
3rd shelf: All of my flat tools, like stencils, circle cutter, craft mats, etc.
4th shelf: The black basket in the back holds clear/cling stamps, the little box in front of that holds misc design team tools, and the little drawers on the right holds pens/markers, and misc. small tools like scissors, paper piercer, etc.
The mail cubbies on the bottom from left to right hold: misc. long tools, like rulers, and a hammer, rub-ons, letter stickers, and the last one holds envelopes.

Underneath the table, I have a shelf with a stack of magazines, and a basket of finished cards.

I use the big drawer to keep all of my colored 8.5x11 cardstock organized.

My husband's best friend made this cabinet for a wedding gift. I've used it for many things, but recently I've cleaned it out to use for all of my patterned paper sets.

It's only paper that I've bought/received in the last few years, because I don't have room to hoard. I also try to keep design team stuff separate.

Last of all, I have this shelf for all of my albums. I try to do an album a year for each of the kids...but don't be fooled, only half of all of these are actually complete :) Since that's an awful lot of albums, I actually use 2.5 inch binders. They are cheaper, and I can decorate the outside myself.

1. What am I working on right now?
Currently, I am trying to get some layouts done to go along with some give-away posts. My patterned paper cabinet is getting a little crowded :)

2. How long does it take me to create a project?
Usually, I can get a layout done in under an hour. I like quick/simple projects...as I don't have tons of spare time!

3. What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?
Lately, I'm really into using my sewing machine, bright papers...and white cardstock.

4. How does my writing/creating process work?

I usually start with a photo...and then pick a theme or color combo to match it. Unless it's an assignment or a challenge...than I pick my products and photos based on whatever the prompt is.

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired?

Pinterest, mainly....looking at layouts that inspire me to use a technique, or a sketch, or maybe a color combo.  Sometimes just a really pretty photograph can give me an idea.

6. What is my signature style?
I don't know...I go through phases, I guess. Mainly clean and simple. I go back and forth between creating layouts that have subtle backgrounds with lots of layers....and white backgrounds with lots of little details.  Here are a couple of my recent favorites:

I'm tagging fellow Imaginisce design team member, Christine Meyer to share her creative space and process. I've been on a couple of teams with Christine, and I love her clean and fun style. Please check out her blog, and tell her that I sent you!

Bella Blvd + Kiwi Lane

We've teamed up with Kiwi Lane Designs, and have been posting our projects all week long over at the Bella Blvd Studio Blog. I was sent some border templates, and had fun pairing them up with the new Tiny Tots, and Christmas Cheer collections...

Three's Company

Supplies:Tiny Tots: Sassy, Toy Chest, One Fish Two Fish, Love to Learn, Watch Me Grow, Borders, Flashcards YZ123, Treasures & Text, Paper Pieces; Sienna Chipboard Alphas: Ice; High Five Alpha Stickers: Black-White; Designer Tape: Orange Stripe

I used a single border on 5 different patterned papers, layered them together, and trimmed off the ends. Keeping the background white, so the colors would pop, I built the rest of my page up from there. For a little added detail, I punched and doodled some hearts in a few of the layers.

 Snow Angels

Supplies:
Christmas Cheer: Daily Details, Borders, Christmas Crew, Jingle all the Way, Treasures & Text, Paper Pieces, Chipboard Icons; Amorie Chipboard Alphas: White; Designer Tape: Red Chevron; Button Market: Pickle Juice Squares

I used the templates with the Christmas Cheer collection for a fun winter themed layout. I used 5 different templates on 5 different patterned papers, and stitched them down for a background. I decided to put the wavy sides down, so that the white cardstock peeking through might resemble rolling snow hills.

Be sure to head on over to Bella Blvd to check out the rest of the great project, and to see the fun and unique ways everyone used the templates!

Imaginisce: Fall Home Decor

We're celebrating fall with some home decor projects over at  Imaginisce  this week. I made use of some sticks laying around my yard for a cute fall centerpiece :)  Arranging the sticks in the jar was almost as fun as making a flower arrangement.

Fall Garland

Supply List
Imaginisce: Perfect Vacation (You Are Here, World Traveler); Welcome Spring (Flying Colors); Little Princess (Secret Garden, Make Believe); i-Rock Tool & Gems
American Crafts: Cardstock (White, Brown, Craft); Baker's Twine, Daydream Thickers

For the garland, I chose papers from 3 different collections to make an autumn color combo. I cut them in 2 different sized circles, and 2 different sized scalloped circles to make it fun and quirky. I then punched 2 holes in each circle, and strung them on some orange baker's twine.

Using the i-Rock tool, I added some gems to some die cut leaves, and hung them on the branches with mini clothespins.

Be sure to pop in the Imaginisce blog through out the week, to see all  kinds of fall themed inspiration!

Bella Blvd: Monday Morning Challenge

The Monday Morning Challenge is up over at the Bella Blvd Studio Blog.  The challenge was to use at least 5 different colors on a project. I chose to combine the Lucky Starz and Max collections for this layout of my son, Owen....

Soccer Star

Supplies:Lucky Starz: McIntosh Starz, Pickle Juice Starz, Oreo Starz, Scallop Starz, Surf & Turf Starz, Treasures & Text; Max: Shark Attack, Treasures & Text, Trinkets, Paper Pieces; High Five Alpha Stickers: Green; Amorie Chipboard Alphas: McIntosh; Crochet Hearts: McIntosh, Pickle Juice; Designer Tape: Chevron Combo, Navy Dot

It's not hard to combine 5 colors using Bella products...you'll find at least that or more on most of the papers :) I started by choosing 5 colors from the Starz papers, and had fun picking out embellishments to coordinate with each one.

Be sure to check out the rest of the projects for this fun challenge over at Bella Blvd!

Thanks for looking!
